🔥 Saw Crambon today. Looking weird.

Hey everyone. Long-time lurker, first-time poster here.

I was down by the river today—you know the spot, where the willows hang over the water near the old bridge. The light was doing that thing around noon where it breaks through the canopy in these perfect shafts.

And I saw something. I think it was Crambon.

It was... laughing? Or the water was laughing. Or maybe I was laughing and didn't realize it. Hard to explain. It made this sound—not exactly "kapukapu" but close. Like bubbles but also like speech.

Has anyone else seen it recently? It looked different from how I imagined. More... present? Like it knew I was watching.

Anyway, just wanted to share. First sighting in years for me.

Welcome to the forum! But I have to say—what you described sounds like a pretty standard case of light refraction combined with river acoustics.

The "kapukapu" sound is just bubbles from decomposing organic matter on the riverbed. Methane release, basically. The "laughing" quality is pareidolia—our brains finding patterns where there are none.

Not trying to rain on your parade, but we should be careful about mystifying what has perfectly rational explanations.

With all due respect, you've been posting variations of this same response for nine years now. We've read Sagan. We understand the skeptical position.

@RiverChild_1923 - I believe you. I've seen it too. The "knowing" quality you mentioned... yes. That's the part that stays with you, isn't it?

Can you describe what happened right before it disappeared? Did the light change? Did you hear anything else?

That's the thing. I don't remember it disappearing exactly. One moment it was there—laughing, present, SEEN—and the next moment I was walking home and the sun was lower and I couldn't remember the in-between.

The light didn't change, or rather, the light had already changed by the time I noticed it was gone. Does that make sense? Like time skipped.

Actually, now that I'm typing this out, I'm not even sure it was today. Let me check my phone... yes, today. March 8th. The photos on my phone are all from today. But I don't remember taking them.

Sorry if this sounds strange. Feeling a bit off.

Time skipping is common with sightings. My brother experienced the same thing. He was gone for four hours but thought it was twenty minutes.

@RiverChild_1923 check your photos. Are there any that show the water directly? Sometimes you can see it in the photos even when you couldn't see it at the time.

Also: was anyone else there? Other people, I mean. Or animals? Birds?

@RiverChild_1923 — Welcome, and thank you for sharing. Your description of the sound is particularly interesting to me.

I've been doing acoustic analysis of reported "kapukapu" sounds for nearly 20 years now. If you're willing, I'd love to know more about the audio characteristics:

  • Was it rhythmic or irregular?
  • Did it seem to come from a specific point, or was it ambient?
  • Any frequency estimate? High-pitched, low rumble, or mid-range?

The PHI sensors picked up something last month that matches descriptions like yours. I'm not supposed to discuss it in detail, but... let's just say the waveform patterns were unlike anything biological we have on record.

Also @CrabBrother2 is right about the photos. Run them through a histogram analyzer if you can. Sometimes there's data in the shadows that the eye misses.

Let's all slow down a bit. Memory gaps after intense experiences are normal— doesn't have to be anything supernatural. Could be a mild dissociative episode triggered by the sensory experience.

That said, @RiverChild_1923, I'd recommend journaling everything you remember while it's fresh. Details fade. And yes, check those photos.

What I find interesting is your description of it being "more present." Several accounts from the 1970s describe something similar—a quality of attention, like being observed from below.

The old texts call this 見られている感覚 (mirareteiru kankaku) — "the sensation of being watched."

#7

I checked my photos.

There are 47 photos from today. I remember taking maybe 5. Most are just... water. The surface of the water. But they're all slightly different, like I was tracking something moving.

In photo #23, there's a shadow. Not my shadow—it's the wrong angle. Something above. Like a bird, maybe, but too big. Or too close.

@CrabBrother2 - No one else was there. But there were birds. I remember now. There was a kingfisher. Bright blue. It was watching from the branch and then—

Wait. Then what?

I need to go back to the river. I need to see if it's still there.

#8

DO NOT GO BACK TO THE RIVER TONIGHT.

The kingfisher is significant. In the original story, the kingfisher is what kills Crambon. You saw the predator. That's not a good sign.

Stay home. Post here. We'll help you process what you saw. But do NOT go back to the water after dark.

#9

This thread is giving me chills. The kingfisher detail... that's too specific to be coincidence.

@RiverChild_1923 - Can you upload photo #23? The one with the shadow? I have some image analysis software I can run.

Also, I'm looking at the post timestamps. Your posts are coming faster now. Are you okay?

#9b

I just pulled up the PHI sensor network dashboard. Sensor 7 (Iwate-East) is showing activity RIGHT NOW. This is not a drill.

@RiverChild_1923 — Where exactly are you located? I need to cross-reference with our grid.

The waveform... it's the same pattern from last month. But stronger. Much stronger.

I'm pinging Frank Pacheco directly. He needs to see this data before they make me take it down before I lose the signal.

I won't go back tonight. You're right. Something feels wrong.

Trying to upload the photo but my connection keeps dropping. The image shows a shape in the water—elongated, like a fish but bigger. And above it, in the corner, you can see part of the wing. The kingfisher's wing.

The shadow I mentioned... looking at it more carefully now... it's not a bird shadow. It's too symmetrical. Almost like eyes.

The water in the photo. It's moving. That doesn't make sense, right? Photos don't move. But I keep looking at it and the ripples

@RiverChild_1923 you okay? Your post cut off.

Don't look at the photo anymore. Close it. Look at something else. Look at your hands. Are your hands wet?

#12

Sorry. Something happened with my keyboard. It kept typing by itself.

My hands are fine. Dry. I'm inside my house. I'm safe.

But I can hear it. From my bathroom. The sound of water running. I didn't leave the tap on. I never leave the tap on.

It sounds like laughing.

#13

This is escalating too fast. @Admin, can we get some support in this thread?

@RiverChild_1923 - Do not go to the bathroom. Do not investigate the sound. Stay where you are. Stay online with us.

I've seen this pattern before. In 2007. Another member. They heard the water too. They went to check and

Well. They stopped posting.

#14

Crambon laughed.

Crambon was killed.

This is how the story goes. This is how it always goes. The crab children see something beautiful. The crab children don't understand what they see. The kingfisher comes. The beautiful thing dies.

But what if we're not the crabs?

What if we're Crambon?

THE SENSORS

Frank the sensors are all showing the same thing now. All 12. The same frequency. The same pattern. It's not coming FROM the river anymore.

It's coming from the forum. From this thread. The waveform matches the text. kapukapu IS the sound. We were recording it wrong this whole time.
